LIBRARIES BENEFIT
DISTRIBUTION OF 5000 VOLUMES. WELLINGTON SOLICITOR’S WILL. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, July 13. The difficult task of choosing according to memory the books that their libraries do not possess was undertaken on Thursday by the librarians of the four Wellington libraries who hsve benefited under the will of the late Mr. A. R. Atkinson, solicitor, Wellington. Mr. Atkinson in his will bequeathed his library to the General Assembly Library, the Alexander Turnbull Library, the Victoria College 'University Library and the Wellington Public Library. Notification to that effect was communicated by Mr. J. M. Dale, partner of the late Mr. Atkinson, and it was arranged that the four library representatives should make their selections. The library of the. late Mr. Atkinson is understood to comprise well over 5009 volumes, excluding fiction. The library was particularly strong in the classical and religious sections. The will provides that Miss Atkinson should make her selection of any books she wished to retain. The bequest is regarded as a very valuable one, and each of the four libraries will be strengthened in some sections.' V' . .
