HAWERA TRACK NOTES
GALLOPS ON SATURDAY
(Bj
"Limited.”)
With the exception of the youngsters Votium (Cole) and the Gay Shield— Persis colt (Flower), who were given a run out from the barrier, all serious training operations on the Hawera racecourse on Saturday morning were again carried out on the sand track. Carfex (Cole) did a round at sound three-quarter pace, going well. Royal Dispute (Cole) and Link Divine (Flower) were given a run down the back over two furlongs. Bantry (Chote) went twice round, sprinting up the straight smartly each time. „ , . Mr. F. Walker’s hunter Bay Sand is gettifig through plenty of steady pace exercise, working resolutely and carrying good condition. Arouse (Flower) did a round, stretching out down the back in good style. Golden Hair (Monkley) continues to do well in her preparation and sprinted four furlongs after pacing a round in 52 Js. Lowenberg and Topthom did serviceable pace work. Lady Eka, Kiaora, Hunting Lad and Colossal were out early doing pace exercise. St. Clara (Cock) worked well over a couple of rounds at half pace. Stanchion failed to run up to his Auckland form at Trentham* Ruaform disappointed in the highweight flat race on Thursday but was responsible for a fair effort in the hurdle race on Saturday, and can be expected to do better on a firmer track. Tlte heavy going may have hampered Supreme Court in his race, where he finished well up behind the placed horses. Arouse has been -nominated for the Rangitikei Hunt meeting to be held at Marton on July 24 and will go on to Manawatu for the fixture there on July 27, where Carfex is also engaged.’ Training operations will be enlivened by the grass fracks being available this week.
