CHALLENGE TO DUEL
ENGLISHMAN REPLIES TO ITALIAN. JEALOUS OF COUNTRY’S HISTORY. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 8.30 p.m. Rome, July 12. Count Fanelli, who challenged Major Attlee, M.P., to a duel following the latter’s speech on Abyssinia, has received from Mr. Edward Dickinson, of London, a challenge to a duel with Mr. Dickinson, who wishes to take Major Attlee’s place. In a letter to Count Fanelli Mr. Dickinson says: “As a duel is evidently your idea of satisfaction I trust you will allow an Englishman jealous of his country’s history and traditions to take up the challenge. I trust you will speedily reply, enabling suitable arangements to be made.” Count Fanelli is at present out of Rome. His friends say he is unlikely to accept as his quarrel is with Major* Attlee. A London cable says that Dickinson is a well-built six-foot man living at Highbury. Interviewed he said: “If this fire-eating fellow wants to eat fire I will give it to him to eat. He can have the choice of weapons.” _ Mr. Dickinson lived in Australia for 17 years.
