FUNERAL OF MR. PEARCE
LARGE ATTENDANCE AT PATEA. Tribute to the memory of Mr. George Vater Pearce, who died on Sunday, was paid by the large assembly which attended his funeral at the Patea cemetery yesterday afternoon. Representatives of all local bodies and other organisations with which Mr. Pearce was associated attended, as well as friends from aU parts, of the Tarandki, Waverley. and Wanganui districts and farther afield. There were about 70 cars in the cortege, and more than 50 wreaths were received. The service at the graveside was conducted by the Rev. S. R. Gardiner, Waverley. The chief mourners were Messrs. C. Pearce (son), A. Pearce (brother), F. Searle (son-in-law), F. K. Pearce and E. Pearce (nephews). The pall-bearers were Messrs. S. Davis, Imlay Saunders, F. Searle, F. K. Pearce, E. Pearce and H. E. Zeisler. Among the wreaths were those from the Waverley Racing Club, Egmont-Wa-nganui Hunt Club, Farmers’ Co-op., Wanganui Club, Patea Harbour Board, Automobile Association (Wanganui), New Zealand Refrigerating Co. Ltd., Waitotara Rabbit Board, Patea County Council, Patea Football Club, Hawera Star Publishing Co. Ltd.
