CAMPAIGN COMMITTEES MEET. Long discussion on matters pertaining to the closing of the Patea Municipal Band’s campaign for funds for the purchase of new instruments took place at a meeting of the combined committees last week, when it was decided to close competitions on June 11. The Mayor, Mr. F. Ramsbottom, presided. Mr. F. W. Locker suggested that the date of the closing of the carnival programme be extended in order that more funds might be obtained, a view that was endorsed by the chairman, who thought that a big effort should be arranged for the final night. It was resolved to hold a concert on a Sunday evening. . A full financial statement is to be submitted at the installation of the successful candidate in the mock mayoral conSympathy with the country candidate, Mr. J.
