Essex in the first innings made 85 (Sims six for 281 and followed on, making 172 (Robins six for 39). Middlesex won by an innings and 41 runs. . Kent beat Glamorgan: Kent m tne first innings made 339 (Fagg 94, Chapman 76) and in tire second lost four for 280 and declared (Ashdown 134 not out). Lancashire beat Sussex: Lancashire in the first innings made 122 (J. Parks five for 54) and in the second 225. Sussex in the first innings made 216 (H. Parks 107; Booth six ■ for 60) and in the second 67 (Booth five for 28). Lancashire won by 64 runs. Nottinghamshire beat Hampshire: Notts in the first innings lost nine for 499 and declared (Hardstaff 163; Harris 87). Hampshire in the first innings made ZZx (Mead 117. not out), and followed on, making 37 (Larwood four for .8). Notts won by an innings and 241 runs. Yorkshire beat Worcestershire: Worcestershire in the first innings made 93 (Bowes eight for 40) and in the 189 (Bowes five for 48). Yorkshire in the first innings lost five for 445 and aeclared (Sutcliffe 200 not out, Wood 123 not out). Yorkshire won by an innings and 164 runs. z
Warwickshire beat Northamptonshire: Northants in the first innings made 186 (Hollies seven for 40) and in the second 129 (Mayer four for 36, Paine four of 35). Warwickshire in the first innings made 199 and in the second lost one for 117. Leicestershire m the first innings made 109 (Darwall-Smith six for 41) and in the second lost four for 23. The match was drawn. Surrey beat Gloucestershire: Surrey m the first innings made 344 (Gregory 92, Barling 80) and in the second lost four for 252 and declared (Squires 106). Gloucestershire in the first innings 265 and in the second lost seven for 192. Surrey won on the first innings.
