BRIXTON NEWS

GOOD ATTENDANCE AT DANCES. About 120 were present at the children and beginners’ dance at Brixton. Messrs. Rowe and Watson played tire music while Mr. Jury was master of ceremonies. Euchre for non-dancers was won by Mrs. Hobbs (Inglewood) and Mr. Tuck. An extra was played by Miss Richards while songs by Mr. Summers were appreciated. Some swede crops in the district are affected by rot. There was a splendid attendance at the dance held by the Brixton branch of the Women’s Division in the Huirangi hall on Tuesday. The music was played by Rowe’s orchestra, while Miss Richards and Mr. Rae played extras. Mr. A. Tate was master of ceremonies. Monte Carlos were won by Mr. F. Bovett and Miss Hooper, and Mr. Richards and Mrs. Tito. Ten tables played euchre, prizewinners being: Mrs. H. Watson 1, Mrs. Crane 2; Mr. D. Fulton 1, Mr. K. Andrews 2.
