UNREGISTERED ARMS
HAWERA YOUTH CHARGED. CASES AT MAGISTRATE’S COURT. For failure to register a firearm within seven days of obtaining possession and for having unregistered firearms in his possession B. J. Goodman was convicted and ordered to pay £1 in costs by Mr. W. H. Woodward, S.M., in the Hawera court yesterday. An order for confiscation of the rifle was made. Goodman said in defence that he did not know registration was necessary. ' For failing to observe the right-hand rule at the corner of High Street and Camberwell Road on May 3, involving a collision between a car driven by defendant and a car driven by C. Pacey, S. Rielly was fined £l, with costs 10s. Sergeant Henry, prosecuting, said Rielly was recognised as an excellent driver who had never before been involved in any kind of accident. Charged with riding bicycles after dark without lights, Arthur B. Evans and Gordon J. Hopcroft were each fined ss, with costs 10s. J. T. McCaw, Paraparaumu, for offering for sale at Hawera on March 14 lambs affected with lice, was fined £1 with costs 12s. The information was laid by J. D. Anderson, of the Department of Agriculture. John Adams was convicted and ordered to pay 10s costs for failure to pay unemployment levies, which were since remitted. For failure to stop after an accident at Ohangai, D. A.- McKay wap fined 10s, with costs £2 16s 6d.
