PRESS SUPPRESSION

FOOT-AND-MOUTH DISEASE. FARMERS’ MEETING ALLEGATION.. Allegations that the New Zealand Press was-suppressing information appearing in English papers concerning outbreaks of foot-and-mouth disease were made by Mr. A.‘ Busing, Mangorei, at the monthly meeting of the North Taranaki executive’of the Farmers’ Union at New Plymouth yesterday. There-was no discussion. “I think that pressure has been brought to bear on the New Zealand Press to suppress news of foot-and-mouth disease outbreaks in England,” said Mr. Busing. “Nearly every English newspaper contains news of an outbreak of the scourge and such papers are received by the Press in New Zealand. Only three months ago there was a terrible outbreak in England.” Mr. H. E. Blyde (chawman).-.That outbreak was mentioned in opr Press. Mr. Busing: ,;Only_ two little bits of headlines. • ' ' The subject lapsed. <
