VISIT TO NEW PLYMOUTH
PUPILS OF THE KORU SCHOOL. <» The pupils of the Koru school attended the King’s jubilee service in Pukekura Park, New Plymouth, on Monday morning and after luncheon in Kawaroa Park visited the New Zealand Star. The trip was made possible through the loan of cars by nine residents of the district. The luncheon arrangements were in the hands of Mesdames G. Green, W. W. Maskelyne, Weir and J. Green. Hurworth Merrymakers. A concert given in the hall by the Hurworth Merrymakers was well supported by the people of Koru. From the opening chorus the programme went with a swing, favourite items being the character song “Gretchen’s Sweetheart” and the chorus “Singin. in the Rain.” The company’s manager, Mr. Harrison, expressed appreciation of the support given the entertainers and thanked members of the hall committee for their help and the children who had assisted with the decorations. The programme was as follows: Hawaiian scene, the company; recitation. Miss A.
