CROWD AT MOUNTAIN
ALL ACCOMMODATION OCCUPIED. WELLINGTON VISITORS TO NORTH. All available accommodation at the North Egmont hostel, the old house* and the cottage was fully occupied last night, when approximately 100 visitors were present. Some of the hardier enthusiasts who arrived to find accommodation at a premium camped the night on the old house verandah. Among the guests were. 26 members of the Tararua Tramping Club, who travelled at night from Wellington and arrived at 7 a.m. The majority of the party climbed to the summit during the day. Conditions early in the morning were not good, a terrific gale making the going difficult. Later climbers found the conditions more favourable and obtained an excellent view of the surrounding country. Trips have been arranged for to-day. The main party will visit Bells Falls, while a party of guests at the hostel propose to make an ascent, returning to the hostel via Dawson Falls. A party of seven spent last night at Kahui Hut and will return to the hostel to-day. Several Wellington and Wanganui parties telephoned for accommodation for the week-end, but had to be refused.
