SERIOUS CHARGE

YOUNG MAN TO STAND TRIAL. ALLEGATION AT OPUNAKE. Eric W. Newman, a young man, was charged at the Opunake Police Court on Thursday with the carnal knowledge of a girl under 16 years of age at Oaonui on November 22, 1934. Evidence vias given by Detective P. Kearney, Dr. Griffen and others, and the accused man, who was represented by Mr. C. H. Croker and pleaded not guilty, was committed to the Supreme Court at New Plymouth for trial. Bail of £25 with one surety wa£ allowed.
