NEGOTIATIONS BEGIN
ANGLO-AMERICAN CONFERENCE. GERMANY’S NAVAL STRENGTH. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 1 a.m. London, April 17. Anglo-American negotiations have begun for a London conference regarding Germany’s naval strength, says the Times’ Geneva correspondent. Herr Hitler during his talks with Sir John Simon indicated that he contemplated a programme for a navy of onethird of the British strength, which would be concentrated in the North Sea and in the Baltic, while the British fleet was scattered all over the world. It would be tantamount to equality, or even superiority, in home waters, especially as the German vessels would all be new.
