Sub-Inspector B. F. Hooper, of the Fiji Constabulary, is visiting New Plymouth. He is an old boy of the New Plymouth Boys’ High School.
Mr. Muntz, assistant British Trade Commissioner in New Zealand, accompanied by Mrs. Muntz, arrived by the Strathaird from London, says a Sydney cable. They are on their way back to New Zealand after spending their leave in England. They will stay at Sydney for a few days prior to proceeding to New Zealand.
The Hon. R. Masters, Minister of Trade and Commerce, has announced that Mr. R. M. Firth, district manager of the Industries, Commerce and Tourist Department at Melbourne, has been appointed Trade and Tourist Commissioner for New Zealand in Western America, to be located either at San Francisco or Los Angeles, says a Wellington Press Association message.
After suffering indifferent health for a number of years, Mrs. Emma Pruden. wife of Mr. T. A. Pruden, Tikorangi, died at New Plymouth on. Wednesday. Mrs. Pruden was 61 years of age. Born at Hokitika in 1873, Mrs. Pruden was the third daughter of the late Mr. William King, formerly of Stratford. Since the age of 10 years, she had resided chiefly in Taranaki. Although she suffered from indifferent health for many years, she was always of a cheerful disposition. Her chief interest lay in her garden, which was always a source of great interest to her. She is survived by her husband, two sons, Messrs. S. A. and V. S. Pruden (New Plymouth), and two daughters, Mrs. Lankshear (Fitzroy), and Miss L. H. Pruden (Tikorangi). There are six grandchildren.
