FUNERAL OF SCHOOLBOY

LARGE INGLEWOOD GATHERING. News of the death of John George List, only son of Mr. and Mrs. C. S. List, Inglewood, in the New Plymouth hospital on Monday was received with regret at Inglewood and district, where the parents are well known. George, who was 13 years of age, was also well known. His teachers considered him one

■of the outstanding boys of the school, being prominent both inside and outside the classroom. He was a member of both the cricket and football teams and was popular with his school fellows and with all whom he came in contact. On Wednesday of last week he was taken to the New Plymouth hospital, where he was operated on for appendicitis, but peritonitis supervened. The esteem in which he was held and the sympathy felt for his parents and sisters was shown by the large attendance and numbers of floral tributes at the fun-

eral yesterday. A service was conducted in the Anglican Church, Inglewood, by the Rev. Boyd Bell,' vicar of Inglewood, who also, officiated at the graveside. The boys of the sixth standard, classmates of the boy, were present, as was Mr. Brown, the headmaster of the school, and Mr. Lovegrove, his teacher. Six of his classmates acted as bearers. The chief mourners were his father, his grandfather (Mr. Haldane), aunt (Mrs. W. Walker, Ngaruawahia) and uncles, Messrs. J. List (Lower Hutt) and J. Haldane (New Plymouth).
