LEGS IN THE TRAIN

NEW LONDON MURDER MYSTERY. DILIGENT SEARCH BY POLICE. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, March 1. The mystery of legs in a train is the latest murder problem confronting the police. The discovery under a seat of a suburban train at Waterloo on February 25 of a brown paper parcel containing a man’s legs skilfully severed at the knee led to police activity all the week.

After an examination at hospitals and mortuaries it was announced to-day that there were no grounds for suspecting a grim hoax, which was the only alternative to murder. A description of the possible appearance of the victim following a medical examination of the legs suggests that he is between 20 and 30, about five feet eight inches in height, and slim. He was possibly a dancer, as the toes were contracted owing to tightfitting shoes.
