GIRLS’ SUICIDE PACT REVELATIONS IN LETTERS SISTERS’ TERRIBLE GRIEF • DEATH OF THEIR FIANCEES DIVE FROM AEROPLANE By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 7.30 p.m. London, Feb. 23. The contents of the letters addressed by Jane and Elizabeth Du Bois, who dived to death from a Channel plane, to their parents reveal the existence of a care-fully-planned suicide pact. The letters, according to the News-Chronicle, recounted the last tragic days, stressing their inconsolable grief at the Messina disaster, in which their, fiances perished. The inquest will be held at Romford on Monday, when it is expected that the contents of the. letters will be indicated. The Daily Express says the letters are intimate and pitiful and it is not likely that they will be fully revealed. A post-mortem examination of the Du Bois sisters disclosed that they were in perfect health, says the Daily Mail. Mr. Franklin Glower, American Consul at London, who identified the bodies of the girls, said they were very little mutilated and the features /tyere intact. They were typical bachelor girls, he added, widely travelled and interested in life. They had scores of friends at London, Paris, Rome and elsewhere. They were interested in flying and mixed in American life at London on previous visits, and it was strange _that they met nobody connected with American activities on this visit In Naples the girls often danced with Flight-Lieutenant Beatty and FlyingOfficer Forbes. When teased about an engagement they laughed and said: “We are too happy to get married.” It is understood that they had arranged to meet the officers in London after their flight
