TANGARAKAU NEWS

PERSONAL AND GENERAL ITEMS. A successful dance was held in the Tangarakau hall last week-end. Visitors from Tahora and HaeO were present. A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Mastei' Tom Mallet and Miss B. Northcott. Mrs. Stark played the music and Mr. T. Jenkinson was master of ceremonies. The Raekohua school children held their annual picnic at Ngamotu beach, New Plymouth, last Friday. The day was showery when they left Tangarakau, but on arriving at New, Plymouth they found a lovely day awaiting them, and all spent an enjoyable day. The sports club made a liberal donation to the picnic funds which enabled Mr. Sinclair to treat the children handsomely on the trip. The children who stayed at home were given a pleasant time in the hall, being treated by Mr. and Mrs. Hart and Mrs. Ayres. A boxing school has been formed in conjunction with the sports club, and some members show great promise. One youth, A. Hart, has possibilities, having both height and reach in his favour, and scaling only about 8J stone. He has reminded the enthusiasts of Taranaki “Billy Olliver” when that clever boxer was at the top of his form. Miss Elizabeth Prichart, Auckland, is the guest of Mrs. J. Murphy. Mr. and Mrs. Warren and family have returned after a holiday at Auckland and Wellington.

Mr. R. McCartie has been visiting Tatu. Miss Isla Kilminster is visiting her sister, Mrs. T. Cronin, Tatu.
