PICNIC AT KOTARE

WOMEN’S DIVISION EVENT. AHHTH-TONGAPORUTU NEWS. Favoured with good weather and a large attendance, ' especially children, the first picnic arranged by the AhititiTongaporutu branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union was held at Mr. Nop’s farm at Kotare last Satur-r day. The spot chosen was ideal, lunch and tea being served under the shady trees in the orchard. Ices were served, and nuts and lollies distributed. Members worked hard to see that all enjoyed themselves and their efforts were rewarded. In the afternoon a sports programme was held. Results were:—

Tiny tots; Girls, Rona Hamblyn 1, Kathleen Hamblyn 2, Hazel Chapman 3; boys, EroT Ashley and Colin Blance 1. Junior girls: Dora Petersen 1, Irene O’SuUivap. 2, Dosanie Hamblyfi 3. Intermediate girls: Phyllis Chapman 1, Nellie - Carr 2, Noeline Flowir 3. Junior boys: Colin O’Donnell 1, David Ashley 2, Alf. Ashley 3. Senior girls: Kathleen Heron 1, Joan Lewis 2, Joan O’Sullivan 3. Intermediate boys: Victor Blance 1, Mervyn Howell 2, Arthur Gibbs 3. Senior boys: lan Blance 1, Gordon O’Donnell 2, Ray O’Donnell 3. Single women: Miss Joan Blance 1, Miss Freeman 2, Miss I. Shepherd 3. Married women: Mrs. Ashley 1, Mrs. Blance 2, Mrs. Howell 3.

'Single men: Messrs. Tom and Jack O’Sullivan dead heat 1, Jack Percival 3.

Married men: H. L. Lewis 1, J. Chapman 2, F. Calvert 3. Mrs. R. Hepworth, Waitara, has been spending a holiday with Mrs. J. Brown, Mount Messenger. Mr.- and Mrs. F. O’Sullivan have left On a six weeks’ motor tour to Rotorua, Gisborne and Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. S. Butler have taken up their residence in the district. Mrs. J. O’Donnell is spending a holiday at Auckland.
