CONSISTENT BATTING
AUCKLAND RETRIEVES POSITION CRICKET AGAINST WELLINGTON. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. After an unpromising start Auckland retrieved its position in a Plunket Shield cricket match against Wellington which opened at Eden Park to-day in hot, dry weather. Although two wickets fell cheaply the rest of the side by consistent batting took the total to 401 before the innings closed and stumps were drawn. The wicket was all in favour of the batsmen, and the outfield was fast. Wellington will open its first innings when play resumes at 11 o’clock tomorrow morning. Details are:—
