RISE IN DAIRY PRODUCE. BOTH LONDON MARKETS WEAKER. The marked rise in New Zealand dairy produce prices on the London markets last week was not maintained this week, butter dropping the 3s or 4s it had gained to 79s to 80s. Cheese also suffered a sharp decline and closed with the market unsteady at 45s to 465. The latest advices, however, state that the butter market shows a firming to strong tendency. A ?’jondon United Press cable states that butter is in good demand and cheese quiet and quotes: Butter: Danish, 118 s; choicest salted New Zealand, 80s to 81s; Australian, 79s to 80s; unsalteds, about 4s premium. Cheese: New Zealand, white and coloured, 45s 6d to 465; Australian, 44s to 44s 6d. Other quotations, last week’s prices in parentheses, are:— Mr. E. Griffiths (Messrs. A. J. Mills and Company, Ltd.):—Butter: There is an upward tendency in the market; New Zealand, finest, 79s to 80s (83s to 84s), New Zealand, firsts, 78s to 79s (82s to 83s); Danish, 116 s (116 s Danish, f.0.b., 97s (965); Australian, 79s (81s to 82s). Cheese: The market is slow; New Zealand, white and coloured, 45s 6d to 46s (48s to 495). Canadian, white and coloured,'s6s to 58s (56s to 58s). Messrs. Newton King (Messrs, R. and W. Davidson, Ltd.):—Butter: Firmer with an upward tendency; salted, 79s to 81s (83s to 84s). Cheese: A shade steadier; white and coloured, 46s (495). New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd.:—Butter: New Zealand choicest salted, 79s to 80s per cwt (82s to 83s). Cheese: White and coloured, 46s per cwt (47s 6d to 48s). The markets are slow. Messrs. Henry A. Lane and Co., Ltd., Hawera:—Butter: Finest, 80s to 81s; market firm with hardening tendency. Cheese: Both white and coloured, 465; market steadier.
