DENBIGH SCHOOL

CONCERT BY CHILDREN. A DELIGTFUL. PERFORMANCE. A delightful programme was given before a large and appreciative audience by the Denbigh Road school children in the school last week. Credit for the quality of the concert is due to the headmaster (Mr. Pepperell) and Mrs. Pepperell, who did all the organising, and to the children themselves. There were visitors from New Plymouth, Midhirst and Tuna. After the concert prizes were distributed. The children presented Mr. and Mrs. Pepperell with a bedroom clock.

After supper the floor was cleared for dancing to music by Mrs. Gooch, with extras by Miss M. Algie, Mr. Pepperell and Mr. Casey. The concert programme was as follows: Gipsy scene, Hilda Yandle (fortune-tell-er), Inez Andersen (dancer); songs; dance, Joyce Clarke and George Nielsen; recitations, Len Lifford, Peggy Nielsen, Clement Mills and May Vince; dance, Aileen Andersen and Ispbel Theobald; dance,' Joyce Nielsen and Mavis Laird; dance, Percy Lyford, Ernest Yandle, Emmett Gooch, George Nielsen, Len Lyford and Clement Mills; song, Miss Wilson (New Plymouth), with dance by Joyce Nielsen, Isobel Theobald, Mavis Laird and Aileen Andersen; recitation, primers; dance, Hilda Landle; “Toymaker’s Dream,” Percy Lyford (Father Christmas), May Vince (pink doll), Peggy Nielsen (fairy), Clement Mills (Jack-in-the-Box), Mavis Laird (gollywog), Emmett Gooch (clown), Joyce Clarke (Autumn Doll), Ena Yandle (sailor); Irish jig, Maisie Riches and Isobel Theobald; dance, Len
