TOURIST ATTRACTION
ADVERTISING NEW PLYMOUTH. RADIO BROADCASTS ARRANGED. That the North Taranaki Radio Society fully supported-the scheme fbr the advertising of New Plymouth by radio broadcasts and that arrangements were completed for the broadcasts to commence on December 8 was the intimation given" to the Automobile Association (Taranaki) at its annual meeting by Mr. A»moor€ A series bf talks would bo given, said Mr. Amoore, With the object of stimulating interest in New Plymouth attractions. It was hoped to attract .many visitors, especially at the Christmas period, by this means. Arrangements were made for talks on beauty Spots in and around New Plymouth, roads and routes, the mountain and motor camps and accommodation generally. The scheme was new as far as New Plymouth was concerned, and should attract many people who would not Otherwise come to New Plymouth. Visitors would laiow what to expect and where to find it.
The schedule of talks is:— December 8: Introductory talk by the Mayor (Mr. E. R. C. Gilmour), “Points of Interest in New Plymouth.” December 12: Talk dealing with accommodation, which will include hotels, Camps, parks and beaches. The president of the Taranaki Chamber of Commerce has been asked to give a few intfoduc* tory remarks. December 15: The Automobile Association service officer Will talk on the conditions of roads around Taranaki. An introductory talk will be given by the president. December 19: A full discussion of all short trips to be made around New Plymouth by motor will be given and at this talk the attractions of Mount Egmont will be dealt with. December 22: A talk will be given on Pukekura Park with an introduction by the Hon. J. McLeod, chairman of the Pukekura Park Board. December 26: The holiday sporting attractions will be discussed. The talks will probably be given at the same time each night from 7.36 p.m. to 7.45 p.m.
