WEDDINGS

EVETTS—SUTTON. The wedding took place at the Presbyterian Church, Inglewood, on October 25 of Mavis Rebecca, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Sutton, to Roy Carrington Evetts, son of Mr. and Mrs. Evetts, Inglewood. The bride, who entered the church escorted by her father, wore a gown of white satin beaute and silk lace, cut on slimming lines and worn with a tram. She also wore a veil and a coronet of orange blossoms, and carried a sheaf of arum lilies. . The bridesmaids were Misses Lorna button and Una Frewin. Both wore frocks of a deep apricot shade of ring velvet, full length, with velvet shoes and mittens to match. They both wore brilliant headbands and crystal necklets, the gift of the bridegroom, and carried bouquets of azalea molis and ranunculas. The bridegroom was supported by Mr. R. Street as best man, and his brother, Mr. B. Evetts, as groomsman. After the ceremony Mr. and Mrs.. Sutton entertained a number of guests in the supper room of the town hall. After the toasts were honoured the bridal party motored to New Plymouth to be photographed. ' Mrs. Sutton wore a brown silk marocain ensemble with hat to match and carried a bouquet of autumn colours. Mrs. Evetts wore a navy silk marocain ensemble, with hat to match and carried a bouquet of autumn colours. The bride’s sheaf and bouquets were the gift of Mrs. M. Sutherland. When Mr. and Mrs. Evetts left on their honeymoon the bride wore a navy frock of sand crepe, with white hat trimmed with navy. Mr. and Mrs. Evetts’ home will be at Taradale, Hawkes Bay. DAVIES-LINDSAY. TTie marriage was solemnised .in the Presbyterian Church, Okaiawa, on November 14 of Margaret Johnstone, third daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Lindsay, “Wesley Grove,” Okaiawa, to Brian Ford, son of Mr. and Mrs. S. C. Davies, Auroa. The Rev. K. Watson, Normanby, officiated. Friends of the bride had. decorated the church with white flowers and greenery and white ribbons, while floral clusters of true lovers’ knots were placed along the aisle. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a gown of ivory tornado ottoman satin, made on slim lines with a full-shaped flounce falling in a slight train. The bodice was trimmed with pearl trimming and silk lace, and motifs of lace were inlet in the bodice and sleeves. She wore an embroidered silk veil, with lace cap edged with pearl trimming and circlet of orange blossom and white satin shoes. She carried a bouquet of white roses, other choice flowers and maiden-hair fem. Her sister, Miss Mary Lindsay, who was bridesmaid, was attired in a frock of ice blue kircip weave, dull finish crepe made on slim lines. It fell full at the hem with cascaded frills inlet in. the seams, and had a large cape collar edged with crossway frills. She wore cream silk lace mittens, cream shoes and a picture hat, and carried a bouquet of flowers in apricot shades and blue to match her frock. Mr. Jim McGregor was best man. Miss Flora Sutherland presided at the organ. After the ceremony a reception was held at the Rewa. The bride and bridegroom were escorted from Okaiawa to Hawera by planes overhead, the bridegroom being a member and pilot of the Hawera Aero Club. The guests were received by Mrs. H. Lindsay, who wore a gown of floral silk crepe in tonings of blue and lemon, with hat to match, and carried a posy of autumn tints. The bridegroom’s mother wore a frock of navy georgette trimmed with beige, with hat to match, and carried a posy of deep cream roses and other flowers, Mr. and Mrs. Brian Davies left afterwards by car for Rotorua, Auckland, Taupo and Tauranga, the bride travelling in a swagger suit in bright blue cavalry twill, with grey hat, bag and shoes to tone.

Their future home will be at Auroa.
