PRIEST AND BRIDE SHOT CONFESSION ALLEGED STORY OF BRIDEGROOM SHOTS AFTER DRINKING By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 5.5 p.m. New York, Nov. 26. The most unusual homicide in recent NOW York criminal history occurred When Harry Steinmetz, a young Presbyterian theological student, shot and killed his bride of two weeks, Alice Steinmetz, aged 26, a former chorus girl, and a companion, the Rev. John Leonard, a former Catholic priest attached to a local asylum for the aged. The double homicide occurred in a room in a skyscraper, Knights Of Columbus Hotel, in the mid-town section of the City. Steinmetz’s version of the incident, according to the police, was that he had come from California for the honeymoon. Early to-day Leonard joined the couple, and after a round of drinking returned tb the hotel. Steinmetz Said he “felt a little drunk.” When he became aware his Wife was not in the room he went to the priest’s room, where he found them together. He admitted he did the shooting with the priest’s gun, which he found in his cost pocket. After police Questioning Steinmetz admitted the pistol was his and nbt the priest’s, also that his real name was Joseph tad not Harry. Steinmetz, whb is 22 years old, said he was born at Bucharest. His father , was a Jewish rabbi but was a Convert to Presbyterianism. The police revealed that the wife was 17 years old and not 27. She recently worked in motion pictures at Hollywood. Leonard’s age is 40.
