FLAG FLOWN ON FORMER MAST

DUKE OF GLOUCESTER SALUTED.

By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. Rec. 11 p.m. Sydney, Noy. 25. As the destroyer Smart steamed down the harbour to Manly on Saturday a flag was broken out on the mast of the original H.M.A.S. Sydney, which is now erected on Bradley’s Head. The Duke of Gloucester and his staff stood at the salute while the band played the National Anthem. The flag was broken out by WarrantOfficer Walker, who was leading signaller on H.M.A.S. Sydney at the time of the historic engagement with the German cruiser Emden off Cocos Islands.
