BAND VISITS OKATO

REVIVING AN OLD CUSTOM.

REGIMENTAL-MUNICIPAL PARADE.

The custom years ago of New Plymouth bands visiting country centres to play programmes was revived at Okato yesterday afternoon, when the New Plymouth Regimental-Municipal Band played in the Domain. The experiment was completely successful and the series will probably be continued. In addition to the band concert, at which request items were given as well as the set programme, the occasion was made a gala day by Okato residents, with swimming, bowling, tennis and cricket in progress. The band, which was entertained at tea by an Okato ladies’ committee, was gratified at the success of the inauguration and will probably visit Urenui shortly. ,
