WIRING DEFECTIVE
DESTRUCTION OF THE ATLANTIQUE.
EVIDENCE AT INSURERS’ APPEAL.
By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Paris, Nov. 15. During the appeal of the insurers of the liner I’Atlantique, which was destroyed by fire in the English Channel, against the verdict of the Lower Court, it was stated that detectives discovered that the electrical wiring of the linei was seriously defective. . Evidence was given that four mysterious Englishmen cashed a large cheque at a British bank in Geneva, after which they crossed the frontier to Champigneulles, where they lived. M Ferdinand Blanc,'French representative of the British Company who supplied the gyroscopic automatic pilot t the I’Atlantique, disclosed the reporting of the defective installation to his P cipals, but after the disaster patriotically decided to remain silent in order not to cast aspersions on the French mercantile marine. Later he declined to visit London in that connection, believing that the disaster was not due to foul play but to faulty installation. s'- '
