REGRADING SCHOOLS
TRANSFER FOR TEACHERS. WESTOWN POSITION DEPLORED. Objection was raised at the meeting of the Westown School Committee last night to the reduction in grade of the school and the probabUity of both the headmaster, Mr. W, L. Wagstaff, and the assistant, Miss Simpson, being transferred. Members deplored the necessity for reducing the grade, which was due mainly to sickness, principally during the second term, affecting the attendance. It was suggested that it would be advisable to reform the Taranaki School Committees’ Association with a view to taking united action.. A motion was passed “that the committee regretted the conditions that necessitated the reduction in the grade of the school, but expressed the hope that the Education Board would defer the transfers as long as possible.” It was agreed to approach the . president of the Taranaki School Committees’ Association with a view to calling a meeting as early as possible in order to resuscitate the association.
