HAWERA’S 10 RUN WIN

BUST’S BRILLIANT BOWLING PENNY TAKES SIX WICKETS Although Pow'er Board failed by 10 runs to reach Hawera’s Score, dne of the most notable bowling performances sb far this season was registered by its captain, A. Buist, who took eight Hawera wickets for 23 runs. Power Board made the poor score of in the first strike, good bowling by Penny and his henchmen keeping the runs down. Replying, Hawera had to fight all the way for the needed runs, the total being passed with the fall of the seventh wicket. Buist’s bowling was remarkable and certainly among the finest seen on the Park this season, With an easy action he tossed down off-breaks which turned sharply and kept the majority of the batsmen quiet. In fact, if it had hot been for Kara and Bray, the captain, Hawera would have had faint hope of securing its total. Batting first, Power Board’s hopes received a blow when Sargeson, who has been scoring consistently of late, was run out for a duck. And though Lendrum, Geary and Buist did theif bit the other batsmen seemed incapable of combating the steady bowling of Penny (six for 23) and Fleet. , , Apart from Kara, who has made a habit this season of coming to light when the fight is hardest, and Bray the Hawera innings was as uninspiring as Power Board’s. The bowling of the mercantile team was extraordinarily good and Lendrum was needed for two overs to spell D. Hughes and Buirf. Details are:— POWER BOARD. Geary, b Fraser 12 Sargeson, run out « D.
