JURY ADDS RIDER

STATEMENTS FROM SUSPECTS. RIGHT TO HAVE SOLICITOR. By Telegraph—Press Association. ' Wanganui, Nov. 5. The grand jury, in returning a true bill against Michael Ansley, charged with indecent assaults on females, added a rider that when any statements are being taken from a suspected person or persons those persons should have the definite right to seek the aid of a solicitor or other advisor prior to such statements being obtained. Mr. Justice Smith said he would forward the rider to the proper quarter. It was very satisfactory to know that the grand jury was taking a very definite interest in the administration of justice.
