ACTIVITIES AT WHANGAMOMONA. ARRANGEMENTS FOR JUDGING. The first meeting of the recently formed committee of the Boys’ and Girls’ Agricultural Clubs’ Association in the Whangamomona district was held at the Marco school last week, Mr. R. Curtayne (president) being in the chair. Those present were Messrs. J. Hodder (Marco), G. Gower and C. O’Dea (Kohuratahi), J. Selby and C. Deader (Tahora), L. Dean (Whangamomona), R. Syme (agriculture officer) and R. Bates (secretary). Arrangements in connection with the forthcoming judging of calves wefe discussed and the itinerary for judging on November 28 was approved. The group judging will take place on December 7 at the Martfo grounds at 11.30 a.m. The Marco school delegates are to confer with the Kohuratahi Sports Club for the catering. It was decided to hold a cow judging competition prior to the calf judging. Other competitions to be conducted on the same day are classes for best pet lamb bom since August 15, wholemeal or cheese scones, children’s school lunch packed in box, coarse knitting, plain and fancy sewing, best article mad# from ker.osene tin or box, and best article from sugar bag. Mrs. J. Selby was appointed cooking class judge and Mrs. J. Law sewing judge. Pet lambs are to be judged by the calf judges. Mrs. Okey and Mr. Dean were elected to the committee to represent the Whangamomona school and Mr. M. Campbell and another to be appointed by the school committee to represent the Pohokura school. The question of financing the club work was discussed and it was agreed to adopt the scheme in force in the South Taranaki area of enrolling members at a subscription of 2s 6d. It was mentioned that the sum of £1 10s raised by each school district would provide all the finance required, and it was decided to recommend to each school committee that it consider the provision of prizes for its own school judging.
