LIVESTOCK MARKET

FRANKTON QUOTATIONS. STORE PIGS KEENLY SOUGHT. By Telegraph—Press Association. Hamilton, Oct. 16. A comparatively small yarding of fat sheep came forward at the Frankton saleyards to-day. Competition for wethers was not so keen as usual and prices were a shade easier than last week. Fat ewes met with good competition and sold at increased rates. There was also a good entry of hoggets, which sold readily under steady competition. Ox beef came forward in large numbers and included many pens of well-finished cattle. Heavy cattle showed an easing tendency, as also did lighter classes, but not to the same degree. A full entry of cow and heifer beef came forward. Much of this was second quality, with the result that there was an easing tendency. The offering of ' yearling heifers met with poor demand, and a dull sale resulted. Rates for boner cows were unchanged. Another very 1 heavy yarding of fat pigs came forward. The market for baconers remained steady at prices quite equal to late quotations, while porkers showed a further hardening tendency. A full yarding of stores * met an exceptionally keen mai-ket, and « a sharp rise in values was recorded. * Weaners remained firm at last week’s I values.
