THURSDAY CRICKET

COMPETITION OPENS TO-DAY. PROSPECT OF KEEN CONTESTS. The Thursday competition, which was a feature of Taranaki cricket activities in former years, languished recently until last season it resolved itself into a duo, with Waitara and Stratford, playing a series of games. This year, however, Inglewood, which has played a promined part in Taranaki cricket, has entered two teams, thus making the competition a quadrangular one. The competition, which opens to-day, should therefore prove full of interest, with some keen contests before finality is reached. The matches set down for decision to-day are as follow:— Waitara v. Inglewood A, at Inglewood, Inglewood B v. Stratford, at Stratford, Cricket Teams. Rawhitiroa:—To play Mata at Mata today: L. Prankerd, D. Knuckey, G. Thame, D. Scott, S. Ford, W. Bootten, A.
