There appears to be an impression that persons between the ages of 16 and 20 have been exempted from the payment of the wages tax, but the Unemployment Board points but that this is not correct. The statement recently made by the Government in respect of the matter was merely a preliminary advice of its intentions, which will become operative only when the necessary legislation is passed and will not be retrospective. Meanwhile, employers must continue to make the deduction.
