N.Z. FRUIT IN GREAT BRITAIN
It is reliably stated that all the New Zealand fruit held in cool store in Great Britain has been cleared, at prices which were more satisfactory than were realised earlier in the season. If such is the case, the policy of holding this fruit in store would appear to be vindicated. Incidentally, Mr. H. Turner, London manager for the New Zealand Fruit Control Board will be arriving in the Dominion shortly and will commence a tour of the fruit-growing districts about the end of October. It is understood that Dunedin will be his jumping-off point. PROLIFIC PIGS FGR PROFIT There is money in pigs providing one goes in for the right type and does it properly. A Rahotu farmer who is breeding pigs in a rather large way had litters of JI 3 and 12 respectively from two large white sows. They reared 24 of them. When the youngsters were only a week or two old he had sold five of them for delivery as weaners at £2 a head, and no doubt he has since disposed of others. They were a good line of pedigree pigs.
