MARRIAGES HIGHEST SINCE 1929.

Tire Commonwealth Statistical! reports that although Australia’s birthrate in 1933 of 16.76 per thousand of the population was the lowest ever recorded, marriages in the same year, 46,595, were the highest since 1929.

The deaths of children under one year, which amounted to 4357, were the lowest, with the exception of New Zealand, in the world. Australia’s population increase in 1933 was 52,395.
