STEADY PROGRESS MADE

NEW PLYMOUTH AIRPORT WORK. REPORT UPON NEW HANGAR SITE. Reporting on the progress of improvements at the field to members of the New Plymouth Airport Board the chairman, Mr. A. F. Sandford, said the work was going ahead steadily and the men employed were making an excellent job of it. Apparently they were finding a keen interest in it. The board was' chiefly concerned with the progress of the improvement work, and members were gratified that the number of relief workers now employed on the job showed an increase of ten on last week, when 65 were employed. A special committee, said Mr. Sandford, had been considering the question of necessary buildings and the site for new hangars. A report would shortly be presented which would enable the board to take whatever steps were necessary to commence the work. He expected that Mr. S. G. Smith, M.P., and the Hon. J. McLeod would shortly have information from the Post and Telegraph Department regarding the deviation of telegraph lines. The borough council had already approved the principle. Mr. Sandford suggested that members of the board should inspect the work at the port before the next meeting, and the secretary was instructed to arrange a suitable date for the visit.
