GENERAL AND' PERSONAL ITEMS. The Tikoraiigi hall presented a gay scene on Thursday, when the annual oldtime danefe was held to assist the funds of the Waitara Band. Rowe’s orchestra supplied the dance music, extras being played by Mr. R. Grant. Mr. T. R. Vickery was master of ceremonies and the supper - supervised by Mesdames I. Faigan. S. Milks, T. Locke and Misses M. Fulcher and B. Faigan, all of Waitara. The Tikorangi Troop of Queen Alexandra's Mounted Rifles held an evening parade at Waitara on Monday night when there was a good attendance of members. Lieutenant Henry, Hawera, paid an unofficial visit, Sergeant-Major Bell, staff officer, also being present. Lieutenant P. H. Surrey was in charge of proceedings. The main object of the parade was to receive rifles and bayonets which have to be sent to the armoury for the annual inspection. It was announced at the conclusion of the evening that squadron headquarters which had been endeavouring to arrange a combined military ball had decided, owing to the lateness of the season, to postpone the function until next year. As a wind-up to the opening of the new factory on Thursday night, the school committee held a euchre party and dance in the hall to raise funds for the school. Rowe’s orchestra supplied the dance music and Mr. T. R. Vickery was master of ceremonies. The euchre winners were: Ladies, Mrs. Faigan (Waitara) 1, Mrs. A. Alexander 2; men, Mr. Wheeler 1, Mr. B. Fulton (Waitara) 2.
