C. MANA ROAD CHAMPION

NEW PLYMOUTH AMATEUR CYCLING SURPRISE DEFEAT OF C. HAWKINS. The New Plymouth amateur road cycling championship was held on Saturday over a course, of 27J miles from Avenue Road round Inglewood and Sentry Hill to the Waiwakaiho flat, C. Mana winning. The race was unpaced, the riders being sent out singly at twominute intervals. It was generally exppeted that C. Hawkins, who annexed the North Island title at Hawera, would be the winner, but Mana, riding splendidly, beat him by Im. 40s. I. Murray was responsible for a creditable performance hi third place ahead of N. C. Batten and F. Barlow. The results are:— C. Mana, lh. Um. 30s 1 C. Hawkins, lh. 13m. 10s. 2 I.
