HOCKEY TEAM WINS

TARANAKI BEATS HOROWHENUA. TOURISTS PLAY MATCH AT LEVIN. (By Wire —Special to News.) Levin, Last Night. A hockey match between Horowhenua and the touring Taranaki team was played under ideal conditions on a very fast ground to-day, Taranaki winning by two goals to one. The first spell was in favour of Taranaki, the score being two goals to nil. The second spell produced bright hockey, with Horowhenua better on the attack, but poor circle work spoiled many chances. Outstanding players for Taranaki were Bennett in goal, Ryan, full-back, Barker, half, and Pascoe, forward. For Horowhenua Morgan, Larnock, Cook and Broughton played well. Pascoe scored two goals for Taranaki and Cook one for Horowhenua.
