FARMERS’ UNION AT OMATA

GENERAL NEWS OF DISTRICT. A meeting of the Omata-Hurford Road branch of the Farmers’ Union Was held in the Omata hal! on Saturday evening, Mr. W. Maloney, presiding over a fair attendance. Mr. C. J. Harris explained the aims and objects of pig recording clubs. With a view to forming such a club it was decided to ascertain what support would be forthcoming. It was decided to hold a social and dance for the presentation of certificates won in connection with the field competitions. A large number of friends gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ron Sanger on Saturday night for a tin-canning, an enjoyable time being spent. Members of the tennis club took the opportunity of making a presentation to Mr. Sanger and his wife. The chairman , (Mr. Kurth) and Mr. Andrews spoke of the many good qualities'of Mr. Sanger and of the assistance he ’had given in forming the court, and extended a hearty welcome to Mrs. Sanger to the district. Mr. Sanger replied. Miss Jean Jones, Kaimata, is the guest of Mrs. F. E. Morris.
