AVENUE ROAD ACCIDENT

MAN SERIOUSLY INJURED. STRUCK BY PASSING MOTOR. Arnold Mitchell, aged 27, residing at 231 Powderham Street, New Plymouth, was knocked down and seriously injured by a car driven by Charles Holden Hamerten, Record Street, Fitzroy, in Avenue Road at 10.15 p.m. on Saturday. Mr. Mitchell was ordered to hospital immediately by Dr. E. F. Fookes, who attended him, and his condition is improving. Mr. Mitchell and a companion, Phillip John de la Haye, 67 Vivian Street, were walking along Avenue Road towards New Plymouth. Mr. Mitchell was wheeling a cycle. Mr. Hamerton was driving his car toward New Plymouth.
