ROOSEVELT’S TRIBUTE
WORK OF THE SALVATION ARMY. NEW GENERAL CONGRATULATED. (British Wireless.) Rugby, Sept. 5. Among many messages of congratulations received by General Evangeline Booth, the newly-elected leader of the Salvation Army, is one from President Roosevelt, in which he pays a tribute to the Army’s work for the amelioration of human suffering and for the preservation of. high spiritual ideals. The cablegram adds: “Through your efforts as commander-in-chief of the Salvation Army of the United States you have earned the gratitude and admiration of millions of your countrymen.”
