WEDDINGS

SOLE—BELL. The wedding was held at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church on Saturday morning of Beatrice Maud, third daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. Bell, Mokau, and Sidney Charles, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Sole, Ohaupo, formerly of Awakino. The Rev. A. Whitelaw performed the ceremony. The bride was attended by Mrs. K. Bowden, College Street, Te Awamutu, as matron of honour. After the ceremony the bride and bridegroom left for the bride’s parents’ residence at Mokau, where a welcome home was accorded them. Among those present were • Mesdames S. Whitehead, A. G. Sampson, N. A. Clifton, C. W. Powell, E. Gough, E. Lewes, K. Black, S. Sheen, W. D Black, A. Waite, F. Northern, G. McMillan, C. Vezey, C. Hepburn and Miss I. M. Sinclair.

TAPLIN-BOLLAND.

Tne wedding was quietly solemnised at St. Mary’s Church, Hawera, on the evening of Tuesday, August 21, of Phyllis May, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Bolland, Tokaora, and Charles Arthur Wellesley, only son of Mr. and Mrs. C. N. Taplin, Eltham. The Rev. H. Whitby James performed the ceremony and Mr. R. F. Page played the organ. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a gown of ivory wind-swept satin. Her embroidered veil formed a long train and was held in place with a wreath of orange blossom buds and pearls. She wore a pearl brooch and pearl pendant and carried a shower bouquet of freesias, andromeda, winter roses and maidenhair fern. Two bridesmaids were in attendance, Miss M. Bolland, sister of the bride, and Miss A. Appleyard, cousin of the bride, who wore frocks of green and flame satin respectively, with wide brimmed felt hats and lace mittens to tone. They carried bouquets of daffodils and maidenhair fern. Mr. T. Bromley, Wanganui, was bestman and Mr. R. Sargent, Hawera, groomsman. The guests, who were all relatives, were entertained by Mr. and Mrs. Bolland at their home at Tokaora. The future home of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. W. Taplin will be Pungarehu.
