BOY OVERBOARD OFF FERRY
LIFEBOAT LAUNCHED FOR RESCUE PASSENGER DIVES IN TO SAVE LAD. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, September 1. For the first time for several years a lifeboat was launched in the harbour this morning from a ferry. A boy of six, Richard Newman, fell overboard. A lifebelt was flung 'to him, but he was floating face downwards and could not see it. A passenger, Mr. R. A. Lowe, dived in and supported him until a lifeboat arrived. The boy was rescued extremely exhausted, but he soon recovered.
