TURKEY’S ADVENTURE

FLIGHT IN CITY STREET. CRASH THROUGH A WINDOW. Dunedin, August 30. A short but exciting episode in which a turkey gobbler was the chief character occurred in George Street this afternoon. The turkey had been confined in a box and consigned to a Dunedin poulterer. During the opening of the box the turkey made a desperate bid for freedom, catching everybody by surprise. His leap carried him high into the air, and, taking to wing, he flew along George Street. Unaccustomed to city life, however, and bewildered by the traffic and buildings, the turkey decided to seek shelter, and at Frederick Street plunged through a plate-glass window into a room in which a bootmaker was working. The episode ended in tragedy for the turkey, which before long met witii the predestined fate of his kind.
