FAREWELL AT WAIONGONA
CONCERT FOR SCHOOL FUNDS. 1. . . DISTRICT PERSONAL ITEMS. A euchre party, social and dar.ee was held in the Waiongona school on -Tuesday to farewell Mr. and Mrs. F. Barriball and family, who have left the district to live at Kapuni. The large number present showed their popularity in the district. Mr. E. J. Clough in making the presentation spoke of the good work done by Mr. and Mrs. Barriball in social functions in aid of the school Their undertakings were always a success. Mr. Clough presented Mr. and Mrs. F. Barriball with a travelling rug, with presentations for Miss M. and Master R. Barriball. In reply, Mr. Barriball said that whatever Mrs. Barriball or he had done to help had been a pleasure. The euchre prizes were won by:, Ladies, Mrs. C. Portway 1, Miss A. Peterson consolation; men, Mr. G. Burton 1, Mr. J. Stevenson consolation, . .Songs were sung by Mr. W. Casey (Hursthouse Road) and Mrs. K.' Butler (Dudley. Road/j Visitors ' were present from ’ MotonUi,Wai-
tara, Leppei-ton, Inglewood, Dudley Road, Hursthouse Road and Otako. Music was supplied by Messrs. L. and C. C Donnell (Waitara). Mr. L. Lyford was master of ceremonies. Supper arrangements were in the hands of Mesdames E. J. Clough, N. C. Wright, C. Portway and a band of men of. the social committee. A Maori concert party from Waitara entertained a large number in the school on Thursday night with music, songs, poi dances, hulas and hakas. Mr. L. O’Donnell (Waitara) amused the audience with his tricks of magic and conjuring. After the performance a dance was held. Music was supplied by Mr. L. O’Donnell and members of the concert party. Extras were played by Miss J. McGonnell and Miss J. Feakins. The proceeds are for the school funds. Mrs. E. J. Clough is visiting Nevz Plymouth. Miss J. Feakins is staying with her aunt, Miss A. Peterson. Miss June Winiki spent the holidays with her aunt, Mrs. E. J. Clough. Miss Janet Wright, Okoke, is spending a few days with Mrs. N. C. Wright. Miss O. Simmons is away on holiday. Miss Peggy Wright is spending her holidays at Lepperton.
