DISTURBANCES IN IRELAND
ANTI-G OVERNMENT FEELING BLUESHIRTS MOURN DEAD FURTHER TROUBLE FEARED ROADS BLOCKED; WIRES CUT By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 9 p.m. Cork, Aug. 15. Much anti-Government feeling has been aroused as the result of the shootings in the city. Members of the League of Youth, wearing blue shirts, guarded Michael Lynch’s body throughout the day in a mortuary chapel, while his relatives knelt in prayer. Later thousands of people with their heads bared passed the coffin. Mr. W. T. Cosgrave, General O’Duffy and Commandant Cronin arrived to attend the funeral. As Lynch was a member of the League of Youth the ceremony is likely to be an imposing Blue Shirt demonstration. General O’Duffy will deliver the funeral oration.
General O’Duffy visited the injured, of whom two are in a serious condition. The authorities fear further disturbances and the roads in the neighbourhood of Dublin and Cork have been blocked with felled trees. Hundreds of telephone wires have been cut throughout the country. A letter box at Dublin was set on fire.
