WAGES TAX REDUCTION
PROPOSALS OF GOVERNMENT RESTORATION OF SALARY CUT. EXTENSION OF SALES TAXATION. CAUCUS DISCUSSES DETAILS. (By Wire— Parliamentary Reporter.) Wellington, Last Night. Further details of the Government’s new policy to be incorporated in the Budget were placed before another caucus to-night They confirm the earlier forecast. , _ As well as the restoration of the & per cent, cut to lower-paid public servants a reduction of the wages tax will be adopted, it is believed. _ It is reported that the cut in the unemployment taxation will be either twopence or sixpence, and not threepence, 3S stated. In addition it is proposed to increase the general revenue by bringing a further group of items under the sales tax.
